Did you know? … worth knowing about Buchbinder auctions

In recent years, Buchbinder Sale's live auctions and e-auctions have become highly popular sources of purchase for car dealers, garages and companies with their own vehicles. The reason for this is not only the large selection and the fair market prices with no surcharge or hidden costs, but also the extensive status reports with detailed photos and tools that enable customers to buy with their mobile device as conveniently and securely as possible - whether with the computer at their desk or with the mobile phone from the sofa.

A video live stream of all real-time auctions, for example, is a matter of course for Buchbinder Sale. This means that online participants can also feel the fun and thrill when the auctioneer directs the bidding battles and closes the sale with the hammer. A bidding agent is also one of the special tools. For all those who do not want to or cannot participate in real time, it automatically bids step by step for all selected desired vehicles - up to a maximum price set in advance or until no one else bids higher.

At the live auctions in the 330,000 square meter logistics center in Neunburg vorm Wald in Upper Palatinate, with which Buchbinder started on November 2, 2015 with 254 vehicles, further services are offered. This includes free board and lodging for the multi-day events since April 2016, a free shuttle service and a free, entertainment program with show acts and prize draws through to excursions in the region. Highlights here were, for example, a performance by a samba dance group, a visit to the Regensburg Christmas market or a boat trip on the Danube. Many participants in the live auctions particularly appreciate the friendly atmosphere and the good conversations with other visitors and the Buchbinder team.

In April 2018 the success of the live auctions led Buchbinder to add e-auctions to its range of auctions. The real-time auctions, which are only broadcast online, take place much more frequently than the live auctions, are usually focused on certain vehicle groups and only last a few hours.

Record-breaking highlights

All vehicles auctioned by Buchbinder Sale are returns from the joint rental vehicle pool of Europcar and Buchbinder, two brands of the Europcar Mobility Group. The range is correspondingly wide: the vehicle types range from small cars to trucks, and all common brands are represented. The selection is also exceptionally large in terms of age, mileage and condition: it ranges from young used vehicles to long-distance vehicles, from vehicles with slight signs of use to accident vehicles that can be repaired profitably and resold or at least disassembled. All in all, a wide variety of price ranges is covered.

The ranking of the highest bids that have been placed on vehicles from Buchbinder and Europcar gives an impression of the top price level. A Range Rover Vogue with a sales price of 75,000 euros, which was sold in 2021, occupies the top spot here. Just behind is a Land Rover Sport in 2020 at 58,000 euros and just a little further behind is the Maserati Levante, which was purchased from a company in 2019 for 47,000 euros net. Incidentally, 2019 was the year in which the largest auction to date took place in terms of the number of vehicles: In December, 1012 vehicles came under the hammer in three days.

Records were and are not only broken in terms of prices and the number of vehicles auctioned, the number of bids is also impressive. While an average of 15 to 20 bids are made within one minute in a bidding round for a vehicle, the record is 175 bids in seven minutes.

Other highlight data show how popular Buchbinder auctions are: In 2020, a total of around 15,500 bidders submitted around 67,000 offers. The live auction in December 2020 alone attracted almost 1,100 different participants. In addition, the auctions are internationally known and popular: in recent years, buyers have come from 15 different countries. In addition to Germany, the largest sales markets are above all Belgium, Italy, the Netherlands, Austria, Romania, the Czech Republic and Hungary.
